School Access During CUPE Job Action

Dear Parents/Guardians,

As we anticipate a potential job action from CUPE members beginning Monday, September 30, I want to inform you that during any CUPE job action, I will be responding to all visitors using the buzzer to gain access to the school ( i.e. lunch drop off etc.).

As such, there may be a delay in response times, but the doors will remain locked as per our safe schools policy. I ask for your patience and co-operation as I make my best to minimize disruption.

To avoid wait times, please know that I will operate the doors from 9:00- 9:30, 11:25-11:55, 1:00-1:30 and 3:00-3:30. I am requesting that parents who need to drop off lunches do so at our set drop off times as noted above. Alternatively, parents may consider providing a packed lunch until further notice. The school hot lunch program will still continue as scheduled.

Please know that during other times of the day I may be performing coverage and direct student supervision and will be unable to buzz people in. This will include recess times and during the entire 12:00-1:00 lunch period. As well, if I am called away to address a need during the access times noted above, there may be a delay in buzzing people in. I apologize for the inconvenience and I thank you for your understanding.

If there is any impact on regular school operations as a result of job action, parents will be notified by the following methods:

* School Messenger ( please ensure that your school has up to date telephone numbers and email addresses for your family)

* Twitter ( follow @ycdsb)

* Website www.ycdsb.ca ( see link under What’s New)

Thank you for your co-operation,

R. M. Amos
